The time is now to move forward with a bold vision for the Islamic Institute of Toronto which includes the design and construction of a masjid, a mirror-image of the eastern wing, and elevators for accessibility.

This also includes architectural designs that reflect the beauty of the Islamic artistic tradition. To meet the fast-changing needs of our community, we invite you to help us expand and optimize our facilities.

Your donations will contribute towards this new and exciting project to build phase two and a masjid.

A community stronghold for three decades.

Located at 1630 Neilson Road in Scarborough, Ontario, the Islamic Institute of Toronto’s (IIT) journey began in 1996 as a fledgling institution and has now grown into one of Canada’s leading Islamic educational institutions.

For three decades the IIT has been laser-focused on promoting authentic Islamic education that aligns with the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) in a manner that is relevant to the times in which we live.

Led by highly qualified scholars, the IIT features a variety of programs and courses on Arabic Language, Hadith and Tafseer, Tajweed, Islamic Jurisprudence, Ethics and Spirituality, Islamic History and Civilization, Comparative Religion, and Civic Engagement.

The IIT also serves as a full-fledged Islamic community centre with recreational and social programs, programs for seniors and the hearing impaired, IIT Scouts, and a madrassa for children.

IIT also houses the IIT Academy, an award-winning JK-Grade 8 elementary Islamic School offering the full Ontario curriculum, in addition to French, Arabic and Islamic Studies.

With a growing local and global audience, it is now imperative to move to Phase Two of our initial vision and expand our facility to accommodate population growth and  optimize the use of our spaces.

A dedicated masjid area for a focused environment

A purpose-built masjid will meet the growing needs of our community, providing a tranquil space for prayers, while also utilising it for related activities such as Qur’an memorization, halaqas, seniors’ programs and more.

The gymnasium can be used more effectively for sports and recreation and other events.

“Charity does not decrease wealth, no one forgives another but that Allah increases his honor, and no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah but that Allah raises his status.”
